This is our Autism. The struggles of dealing wit This is our Autism. The struggles of dealing with aggressive behaviors are REAL. I’m not sharing this post for pity. I’m sharing this because this mama’s hope is diminishing. We as a family are barely hanging on. The past year I feel like has been the most difficult for Collin. While Collin has had many accomplishments this year, these aggressive meltdowns/tantrums are wearing our family down. The past two days have been the most difficult because there are no breaks in it. It’s walking on eggshells every moment of the day. Wondering what will trigger the next one. Praying that he will wake up in a happy mood. These aggressive behaviors and screaming will last for hours at a time. It leaves me feeling overwhelmed with several bruises, scratches, and hair pulled out of my head. Of course, this isn’t all about me. It’s also about my sweet boy falling apart in front of me. He will bang his head against the wall, punch himself. His legs and chest are covered in bruises from constantly pinching himself. I can’t help but feel like I have failed him as his mother and caregiver. But this morning this photo of Collin popped up on my feed and it reminded me there is still hope even on our hardest days🤍 #autismjourney #autism #autismmom #meltdowns #hope
