Ah… the feel of spring is in the air here in Florida!! We are just in our first couple of weeks of February and I can’t explain how great it is to shut the door on January.
As like any parent, we get caught up in the daily “to do’s” that never seem to end. I think I’ve wanted to go strawberry picking for years with the boys. Every year we seem to just miss the prime picking time… but this year I was on it!!
With the husband out of town for the weekend I like to keep the boys as busy as possible. I explained to Collin all week what we would go to the strawberry field and Chick fil a was in the cards as a reward. There’s a lot of times when it’s just me and the boys and still can overwhelm me. By a fault, I like to keep Collin happy and calm and I will admit it makes life a little easier and I know I shouldn’t make things easier for him. I guess I look at it as “choosing my battles”. My goal for the day was to have two happy boys for the majority of the day.
We had a nice morning getting ready, lots of snuggle time with Luca, we sat down and wrote out Collin’s list and strawberries was on it, made coffee, loaded the boys into the Jeep and we were on our way!
Approximately 3 miles from the house, we made it. Of course the boys didn’t want to get out of the car. “Look at all the strawberries!” I was so excited. Collin didn’t want to get out of the car, but with some time he gets out. We grabbed a couple of pint boxes and we were ready to go. Once they started they were off! Collin was calling it a strawberry hunt, which was adorable. They filled their boxes with huge smiles and we were off to weigh our strawberries. I was happy Jonah had fun, he’s at that age of 9 and if his day doesn’t include Minecraft or Beyblades it’s the end of the world.
We had a super time at Pappy’s Patch in Oviedo! We never made it to the blueberry patch, hopefully next time!
